O.K., so do you know A.L.I.C.E? That internet 'bot that supposedly chats with you? (www.alicebot.org)

So today I said to her:

Elisa: So, did you know about Rob, who has a brother whose name is also Rob, but is not the same as Rob who married Rob's sister, Bobby, which is the daughter of Rob, called Rob Sr, whose nephew, Bobby Jr is not the same as Bobby, who married Rob's cousin, Rob, the second one of the brothers (the other brother being Rob the one I just told you about before, aka Bobby Sr.), whose daughter, also called Rob, had a boyfriend curiously called Bobby.

And then see if the Alicebot gets all confused.

Unfortunately, it does get confused, but about the wrong thing, because in reply the 'bot just says a bunch of non-sequiturs like:

Alice: I like ice-cream too!

So anyway, Turing Test my foot!

Some people have too much time on their hands.

As for me, I always have too little.

Sometimes I wish the elves would just show up and clean my apartment already. I don't know what else to bait them with. Apparently apple cores and empty soda cans is not enough...

Today I thought quite a bit about Fraunhoffer diffraction. Nothing too exciting, mostly having to do with regret at not remembering much of my grad school courses and therefore not being too good at explaining it to a layperson.

Still, I know this was not an interesting thought but as the scrapbook was supposed to be fairly random it wouldn't be quite fair to only post interesting thoughts here, or?

Yesterday a guy I know told me a story about how he was walking through a rice paddy and his legs got full of leeches. Great date story, huh?

Today I worked hard at my workplace. So no interesting non work-related thoughts. Though I did think: "My mouth didn't say what my brain was thinking" at some point during the day after I had happened to say something that left the other person rather "jaw-dropped".

Today I thought (again): "Man, I really need to get me a recording of Elgar's Enigma Variations."

I had thought this before but you wouldn't know since this is the first real scrapbook entry. So just to clarify.

Well, I was bored at work today so I figured I'd start a scrapbook entry for all the world to see. So if it doesn't entertain you it will at least entertain me. Basically, the way it works is, I'll just randomly choose one of the myriad of thoughts that cross my mind during the day and post it up, one for every entry. How's that sound?
